British Archer 17 Pounder Self Propelled Gun with 2 Crew
20mm Scale
New, sealed and unbuilt.
Ref No : BARM25
With the development of the British 17 pounder in 1941, there was a pressing need to mount it on a tank. The Crusader was ruled out as too small leaving the Valentine chassis as the basis for Archer 17 Pounder Self Propelled Gun.
Work started in July 1942 resulting in a prototype Archer by March 1943. The design married a Valentine chassis with an open topped superstructure over the fighting compartment mounting the 17 pounder. Given the size of the gun, the design had the 17 pounder pointing to the rear with limited traverse. Following trials and some modifications, the Archer was put into production with the first vehicles available From October 1944.
They served during WWII in NW Europe with British anti tank battalions and remained in service until the mid 1950s.
Kit is a 20mm Zone rapid build with 6 parts and comprises plastic hull with white metal parts including 2 crew.
Whether for wargaming or just building for display this brand new kit is a beauty. Not to be missed.
