Continental "chromes" are postcards that are larger than the standard 3½ x 5½ inches. The term Continental refers to the size and the fact that they were first popular in Europe, or on the "Continent" and they date from well before 1950 up to recent times. The word "chrome" comes from the word Photochrome which refers to the type of color printing process used to produce the postcards. These modern era postcards are glossy, slick and beautiful.
