Vintage rolling pin
I think the wood is most likely old pine ??
I am not entirely sure what this was used for
When I purchased it I was told it was an old Tutove rolling pin - which is for pastry making and used to incorporate the fat into the pastry mix whilst rolling - but it seems very large for this job - if that's what it is - you would be making pastry on an industrial or very large scale
I guess it could also be a form of washing tool - maybe for larger items of linen ??
It does show some old worm holes - Which I have photographed - nothing is live - I don't think it was when I bought it - but I have treated it anyway just to be sure
Measures 29 1/2 inches handle to handle
I have placed a standard rolling pin in the last photo which is used in my own kitchen and is not for sale - but it gives a better idea of scale of this
Would make a fabulous decorative item and talking point
If you know anything more and can shed any light on this item or it's uses please let me know - I would love to hear from you
