ANTIQUE PAISLEY SHAWL 1860's INDIA LOOMED WOOL BLACK CENTER 128" x 62" A tight weave antique paisley shawl dating to the mid-19thc, 1860's, likely India origins, with the extravagant design elements and dramatic boteh designs.
This paisley shawl is not hand made, and done on a loom. The gates and paisley are LOOMED. Most of the fringes are missing on its two sides. Beautiful vivid colors.
MEASUREMENT: The paisley shawl measures a generous 128" x 62"
CONDITION: Paisley Shawl is in very fair/good condition, unwashed, no stains, strong and sturdy, no thin areas, two large holes that are pictured with scissors showing holes, one of the larger holes is 2-1/2" x 2". Many smaller holes scattered about, easily repaired, and in the gates have most of its fringes are gone. One small bite out of edge. One very small paint stain as shown in photo.
These shawls are essential accessories for Civil War garments and make nice decorative touches in the home as well, try them for holiday buffet table, a pleasant and no fuss alternative to white linen or lace. This elegant 1860's paisley shawl breathes with vibrance of old warm colors.
This piece is strong and sturdy and worthy of collecting.
