Vintage Eyedropper Fountain Pen

with Repoussé overlay

Beautiful Eyedropper fountain pen, a bit crude,it was never a high end pen, 100 years old or more - But sturdy & a fun pen none the less :-) a full 6 & 9/16" posted and 5 & 1/8" capped, an antique Eyedropper Fountain Pen that you can use. Hard rubber with a gold tone / plated metal repoussé overlay - the trim is quite bright, but it does show some tarnish & patina upon close inspection. The pen has no maker marks, no personal names, no cracks. The cap is a tapper slip fit cap, it caps well enough, to cap it, Push the cap on, then turn till its tighter and is secure, -- the pen posts o.k. (push on to post) THIS IS A PEN TO LEAVE HOME AT THE DESK , not a practical carry pen, The pen does not & never had a pocket clip originally. (keep point up when not in use)

The nib is a nice flexy Warranted "CANADA" nib, approx #5 - there is just enough good iridium tipping, Quite Easy flex, a nice fine line with a light hand to approx 2.1 mm with light to medium pressure for very nice line variation as shown. a 14K gold nib. Nice on Rhodia paper, more feedback on cheaper paper, Like writing with a gold Victorian dip pen nib.

This pen was tested by actually filling the pen with ink, the section threads are excellent, and the joint between the barrel & section is very tight. it is a leak free pen. I put a little silicone on the threads also, The feed channel & section have been cleaned and are very clear, it has a very nice early feed with very good ink flow- you will get different results with different inks. The pen performed very well for me :-)

The section was from a different pen, but it has the same thread pattern, there is a step where the joint between the section & barrel meet up , this will not affect function, there is also a glue mark on the barrel as found , both these details are shown in photos # 8 & # 9

Relatively primitive but fun antique pen that you can use, Like these pens wrote originally , and especially when the pen is low on ink, the heat from your hands may occasionally cause an ink blob to occur, keeping the pen full will help, & tipping the point up once every so often will help. Or keep a blotter around like they did in the old days..

The Paper is from a Rhodia Dotpad No. 16, the dots are 5mm apart to help you gauge the line variation. The inks are Diamine Monaco Red, and Waterman Inspired Blue :-)
