DESCRIPTION: Vintage original photograph, "Merry Christmas Emilie".

This is from a collection belonging to Jane Bauer and Gertrude Carpenter, who appear from the many photographs to have been a lesbian couple, partners for many years. On some of the photos they referred to themselves as "Carpenbauer". The collection begins with many photographs from the Orchard School in Indianapolis, Indiana, where they might have been teachers. These photos appear to be from the 1920s, and the collection goes up to the 1950s. One address for the women was 180 Inwood Ave in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. They also had friends Edward and Lena Briggs in Truro, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod.

SIZE/WEIGHT: Approximately 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".

CONDITION: VERY GOOD, some remnants of black scrapbook paper on the back.
