Original Antique French Mantel Clock With Hand Painted Porcelain Dial and Panels
This is your chance to own the most beautiful mid to late 19th century French mantel clock. The clock is made of ormolu original finish and features a really beautiful porcelain dial which is hand painted with floral sprays to match the panel and the urn top.This is a good quality clock in lovely condition. 8 day striking movement circa 1880.
Case
- Original ormolu
- Stepped base, solid heavy case
- Beautifully shape case with applied moldings with leaf decoration and scrolling embossed design
- Topped with a further acorn finial
Dial
- The porcelain dial features black Roman numerals and steel cut hands
- Two winding holes for the two trains of the movement
- Small knob at the top for making fine adjustments to timekeeping
- Beautifully hand painted serves porcelain
Movement
- Brass 8 day striking movement
- This is a striking clock and strikes the half and counts the hour
- Movement will run for approximately 8 days when fully wound
- Clock has a good action and keeps good time
- Comes complete with winding key and pendulum
Measurements
- Clock measures approximately 36cm (14 inches) high by 21cm wide and 10cm deep
Condition
- Condition is generally very good and the clock has a nice patina
- This clock is a genuine antique so it will inevitably have minor signs of age and wear
- Movement has been cleaned and oiled and is in full working order
- There is some minor damage to the dial
- The case looks to be in lovely condition
