BIOGRAPHY: Roy Kemp (1920 - 1976) was a New York based photo journalist. Early on in his career, in the 1940s, he earned a reputation for being one of the finest burlesque photographers in the United States. His elegant photographic style and attention to detail made him the favorite photographer among all the leading burlesque dancers. Kemp’s talents as a photo journalist provide him a unique perspective on the lives of his models. By 1960, this insight led to a considerable change in his photographic style. Gone were the glamorous sets and smiling models. Instead, the women became younger, edgier, and with fetish symbolism throughout. Many have commented that Kemp's darker photographic style was among the earliest examinations of the sexploitation art genre on film.

We forensically examine all of our items prior to listing to make certain they are authentic and guarantee their authenticity for the lifetime of the item.
