Antique 16th c. Iznik Ottoman Imitation of Chinese Porcelain Tea Cup, Polychrome Enamels


  • Here is this very fine EARLY small tea cup
  • Made of fine white porcelain-like clay, hand decorated with polychrome enamels
  • White and Antimony yellow floral border surrounded by a Manganese violet ring around the rim
  • Diamond-shaped geometric designs along the outside, bounded by underglaze Cobalt blue bands
  • Cobalt blue circle inside as well, framing a black, yellow and Copper green floral shape in the center
  • An early piece of fine porcelain imitation, Ottoman/Turkish in origin from the XVIth century, made in the manner of the highly-regarded during the period Chinese porcelain

  • Measurements: Approx. 3" diameter, 1.6" high

  • Condition: Good overall; Please see photos below. Some surface roughness and missing glaze on the top edge and underside, where it meets the table - a common occurrence on such early pieces
