Besonderheit und Bemerkung
Das Unternehmen gab es bereits als Uhrengeschäft ab 1832. Die Uhrenfabrik gründete der Schweizer Uhrmacher Ernest Francillon 1866 in St. Imier. 1867 wird daraus eine der ersten Uhrenmanufakturen der Schweiz. 1952 tritt Longines als offizieller Zeitnehmer in die Geschichte der Olympischen Spiele ein und ist seitdem bis auf den heutigen Tag bei jeder Sommer- und Winterolympiade dabei. Wohl bekannteste Träger in der Geschichte von Longines-Uhren sind Charles Lindbergh, der mit einer um den Oberschenkel geschnallten Longines-Fliegeruhr die Atlantiküberquerung heil überstand und der Schauspieler Humphrey Borgart der in den Fünfzigern mit melancholischem Blick und einer tonneauförmigen Longines am Arm in die Kamera schaute. Die bekanntesten Modelle sind: Admiral, Dolce Vita, Flagship, Lindbergh und La Grande.

Characteristics and remarks
Longines is a doyen regarding the whole Swiss clock industry. The company has already been a watch shop since 1832. The watch factory, though, was established in 1866 by Ernest Francillon, a Swiss clockmaker. In 1867, it became one of the first Swiss watchmaking manufactories, winning the first gold medal for a pocketwatch at the wold exposition that very same year. This success seemed to appeal to firm owner Ernest Francillon because till 1926 Longines was able to take home a total of nine similiar prizes.
In 1952, Longines became the official timekeeper for the Olympic Games and has since then been a part of every summer and winter Olympics. The probably best known Longines watch wearer is Charles Lindbergh, who crossed the Atlantic ocean succesfully and safely with a Longines pilot's watch strapped around his thigh. Just like Humphrey Borgart in the Fifties, who looked with a melancholic stare into the camera while wearing a tonneau-shaped yellow gold Longines on his wrist.

In case there is no infomation on any specified water resistance level, the watch has not been tested by us.

Bien que le comptoir existe depuis 1832, la fabrique des Longines est fondée en 1866 par l’horloger suisse Ernest Francilien à Saint-Imier. Elle devint une véritable manufacture en 1867, une des premières en Suisse. En devenant le chronométreur officiel de nombreux événements sportifs au cours du 20ème siècle (Jeux Olympiques, courses hippiques de renom, compétitions de ski, Formule 1), Longines inscrit son héritage dans la passion et le dépassement de soi. L’une des plus marquantes collaborations de Longines fût celle avec l’aviateur Charles Lindbergh qui traversa l’Atlantique sans escale et en solitaire en 1927. À l’issue de la traversée chronométrée par Longines, Lindbergh décrivit une montre-bracelet qui aiderait à la navigation en permettant de calculer sa localisation précise et elle fût produite par Longines. Très active dans le 7ème art, la marque Longines a également habillé les plus grands acteurs (Humphrey Bogart avec une "Evidenza" dans le grand classique Casablanca, ou encore Audrey Hepburn avec une "Dolcevita"). Les modèles les plus connus sont : Admiral, Dolce Vita, Flagship, Lindbergh et La Grande.
