Dragon has produced a fantastic 1/35 scale plastic kit of the Flakpanzer IV Wirbelwind. The kit depicts an Early Production version of the antiaircraft platform based on a Panzer IV Ausf.G chassis. The Wirbelwind, a late war anti aircraft tank, was made by mounting a 2cm flakvierling inside an open top turret which fitted directly into the turret ring of a Panzer IV, the conversion being undertaken at a dedicated workshop in Sagan in Lower Silesia Prussia (now Poland). The Panzer IV chassis used for these conversions were typically from Ausf G or later tanks which had been returned, often damaged, from the front line for repair and overhaul. With an effective combination of firepower, armour to protect the crew and mobility inherent from a tracked chassis, the Wirbelwind was effective against both ground attack aircraft and ground targets

All associated detail of the open-topped turret, hull and running gear is accurately represented in true-to-scale miniature. The kit utilizes Dragon’s highly acclaimed kit of the 2cm Flakvierling 38 weapon system, a finely detailed replica of the original four-barrelled gun. Inside the box, modellers will find many slide-molded plastic components, as well as the convenience of Magic Tracks, plus some photo-etched parts such as the cage for spent shell cases. This latest kit from Dragon allows modellers to easily create any specific vehicle from the Flakpanzer IV Wirbelwind family.
