This is a good quality, rare, George III, solid silver dinner fork in the classic fiddle pattern design. There is no monogram but there is a slightly faded crest, to the back of the handle, of a bird of prey.

Apart from the usual fine surface marks, wear to the tines and knife marks to the back of the tines, it is in very good condition for 197 years old.

IT measure approximately: 20.3 cm long, 2.2 cm across the tip of the tines and weighs 86 grams / 2.765 troy oz.

The hallmarks are: The date letter ‘Y’ for 1819, with the crowned harp for the Dublin assay office, Hibernia tax paid stamp on Irish silver, the head of King George III as duty stamp, and the maker’s mark ‘IE’ for James England. Also stamped with the retailer’s mark ‘WEST’.
