This offering is for a 9 quart bag of Canadian sphagnum peat moss.    This peat has been hand sifted through wire mesh.  Most of the small sticks that ordinarily are in peat moss are removed in the sifting process.  The sifting also removes the fibrous clumps that characterize compressed bales of peat moss.  It will mix readily with any other ingredients you may choose to add to it. 

     This is peat moss only.  It contains no additives, no fertilizers, no wetting agents, no fungicides, no pesticides.

     The contents of the bag will approximately fill nine 6” squatty flower pots.  This is ready to use for those who mix their own potting soil and don’t need a whole bale of peat, or want the chore of sifting it.

     This peat is very dry and may be dusty.  Many growers dampen it before combining it with other ingredients.  Peat dampens most easily using hot water.  Peat stores best when very dry.  If you don’t use all that you dampen, allow it to air dry before returning it to the bag.

     The shade of brown of the peat moss varies from bale to bale.  The color of the peat moss you receive may very slightly from the color of the peat in the photos.

     Some hobby growers sterilize their mix after creating it.  This peat has not been sterilized, but is stored in tightly covered containers.
