Lovely vintage brooch from Pierre Bex with gold and red enamel, as well as clear rhinestones in a geometric Art Deco design.  Set in antiqued silver-tone metal and complete with French barrel lock or trombone-style clasp that works perfectly.   

Pierre Bex jewelry was made in France from 1969 until the 1980’s.  Each piece was handmade from original stampings dating from the late 1800’s to the early-mid 1900’s, mostly Deco in style.  The Pierre Bex factory closed in the late 1980’s, but the high quality of its production, plus the use of original tools and stampings, as well as the use of the best materials, give the surviving Pierre Bex pieces significant value.  They are becoming increasingly difficult to find, particularly the classic Art Deco designs.

Only about 10% of Pierre Bex pieces were signed, and this one is in the majority, with no signature.  They can be distinguished from later reproductions by the French barrel lock or “trombone-style” clasp on the back and the quality of the hand-laid enamel and hand-set rhinestones under a protective clear coating.  This piece can also be seen in the old Pierre Bex catalogs and is called a “Basquet."

The brooch measures about 1 3/4” X 1”.  The dime is in the photo for size comparison, and is not included.

This very pretty vintage piece is in excellent vintage condition with no missing stones.  It is all ready to wear and enjoy!
