All auctions this week are starting at 35-85% off their retail price!

Will be going through storage boxes for weeks to come and will continue to list unusual items as I find them.

DORKA RAYNOR 1976 ALFRED HITCHCOCK "FAMILY PLOT" POSTER ON BUS IN PARIS 8"X8" PHOTOGRAPH

"COMPLOT DE FAMILLE, PARIS"

******

This is an unsigned original photograph, with photographer's information the back. On the Internet I found another unsigned image Raynor with an asking price of $650.00!

******

Photographer stamp and agency label on the back as shown. 'Paris" handwritten in black ink, probably by the photographer. Dorka Raynor (1905-1995) was born in Poland. Raynor's work is included in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Musee Carnavalet, Paris. She was the author of three photography books: "This is My Father and Me" (1973), "Grandparents around the World" (1977), and "My Friends Live in Many Places" (1980).

In years past many photographers such as, Weston, Adams, Loranc and others made "Press Photos" for reproduction. In most cases (as in this one) they were of the highest quality as the photographers wanted to have their images show up in publications the best they could. Times have now changed and most are now making scans of their work for press release purposes. Press release photos have become more and more valuable as photography prices have climbed. About 10 years ago the big New York City auction house Sotheby's had an auction of mostly press photos from the past 50+ years. It's a great way to own a valuable photo for a fraction of its current retail price.
