Condition: Near fine dark green full leather volume with decorated front and back cover and title in gold on the spine. This copy is a top quality printing produced by Franklin Library with marbled end pages and silk page marker and gold page edges all around. The covers are clean and all of the decorations and gold print are bright and sharp. There are no stickers or marks inside. The corners are sharp and free from any bumping. The gold page edges does have a scratch on the bottom edge. There are several double page color illustrations by Thomas Rowlandson. Book size is 6 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches tall, 736 pages.
The Franklin Library was selected as the printer for "The Oxford Library of the World's Great Books" series due to their high quality leather bindings and acid free paper as determined by the guidelines for permanence and durability set by the Council of Library Resources and the American National Standards Institute. The Thomas Rowlandson etchings in this edition were meticulously rendered from a rare edition published in three volumes by the Edinburgh firm of J. Dixon and P. Hill in 1792.
