The SPL15.3 features many of the same design principles found in the SPL12.2 and SPL15.2 but pushes the boundaries further, increasing the performance significantly. With higher power handling, larger Xmax and much more powerful motor, this woofer has proven very successful in various competitive formats. Triple stacked 125Oz Y35 Ceramic magnets provide a tremendous amount of magnetic force in the voice coil gap. This gives the enormous 4″ VC the force it needs to deliver sledgehammer transients and jellifying bass lines. We’ve kept the basket the same as the SPL15.2, it looks good, it works good. We’ve kept the cone pretty much the same apart from beefed up on the stiffness and where it attaches to the voice coil. The stronger that part of the woofer is, the better it will perform in long duration SPL burps reliably.

Prototype – We originally prototyped these in a batch of 10. Tested thoroughly they seemed to fit the bill and satisfy our requirements so we put then into production. V1 – The V1 has been pretty good so far. But due to some manufacturing deficiencies and several points for improvement, we have already prototyped and are ready to build the V2!! V2 – The V2 will look outwardly the same but with a taller surround. With a 3″ VC instead of 4″ and a custom tooled spider ring and dual multi-layer progressive spiders, this new version will have massively extended Xmax. Longer coil height, thicker top and bottom plates, stitched dual tinsel leads, DVC 4+4 and DVC 2+2 versions and increased power handling due to better cooling structure. Motor force will stay the same (brutal) and there will be no element that is not improved! Surpassed only by the XPL series.
