Offered for your consideration is this Antique 1905 "Converse" Brand Salesman Sample Dresser Bureau with Self Storing Mirror ~ & it still retains its original manufacturer's paper label on its back. The patent number defines this piece as being invented for: " The purpose of the invention is to provide a construction of toy bureau whereby the mirror and its frame may be placed for shipment or storage in a compartment at the back of the body of the bureau and held in a protected position, the top of the body of the bureau being at such time flush throughout, and to so locate the said compartment that when the mirror is stored therein it will not interfere with the action of the drawers."  This Salesman Sample has been refinished by its previous owner & it was in this lighter finish when we purchased it. When the mirror is mounted on the dresser it stands approx. 26 7/8" tall x 15 7/8" wide x 8" deep. When the mirror is stored correctly in the back inside of the dresser base it stands approx. 14 1/8" high. We actually own two of these salesman sample Converse dressers (this one has been refinished & the other one has not) and we are going to list both of them on eBay at this time, but this listing is just for the lighter finish dresser only.
