CONDITION: IT’S IN SUPERB CONDITION THROUGHOUT

THIS IS A EDWARDIAN ANTIQUE LOCKET OF POPULAR SIZE, IDEAL TO WEAR EACH AND EVERY DAY AND / OR SPECIAL ENOUGH TO KEEP JUST FOR THOSE CHERISHED OCCASIONS.  AN ‘EYE CATCHING’ ITEM OF ANTIQUE JEWELLERY (See 5 Pence in inset picture for comparisons).

This oval locket has foliate engraving to the front with a vacant shield shaped cartouche to the lower centre. The locket has plain surfaced sloping away edges. There's a pretty scrollwork top with a gold top holding ring with an inner diameter of 3.5 mm. The reverse of the locket has the exact same design format except central area is leaf engraved throughout with no cartouche. Here within the engraving are the gold marks for '9CT GOLD BACK & FRONT'
 

This locket is a lovely rich yellow old gold typical of 9ct jewellery from this period, circa 1890-1914. We have carefully ‘check tested’ the piece and confirm it is '9ct Gold Back & Front' category. 

(9ct Back & Front is a locket category where the front and back panels and scroll top and ring are of solid 9ct gold, and check tested here, the internal frame and retaining rim is not gold. This method of construction was used primarily to achieve greater strength and durability of the locket).

Yes, this locket is in excellent condition, no dints, indents, bumps or scratches, indeed no blemishes at all. A lovely polished finish throughout. 

 (Please note that any markings on this locket are due to reflection rather than a blemish or discolouration of the gold surface).

It will offer the new owner many more years safeguarding your most treasured keepsake or photographs. The locket opens easily and shuts well with a reassuring “click”. Inside the locket has purple watered silk insets and Perspex covers, there is a retaining rim to the right side. The locket is firm to the press, there is no buckle effect at all when pressed.
