Rare Antique Candy Store / Barber Shop Style Cash Register. Burdick - Corbin Co., Detroit,
Michigan. Says "Western" on drawer. Register No. 5288. Sale goes up to
$1.00. Drawer opened easily when price buttons pushed. Highly decorative
design with Cherab on sides. Nice for Valentines Day Gift. Great shape
for the age. The screws holding marble base were missing and it looked
like a few of the numbers on display counter needed to be replaced. I couldn't find any keys. Made of cast iron like the old toys, but has a copper color look. Online it says these registers were made by Peninsular Cash Register
Company from 1896-1904. They were sometimes given away free as
promotions. Burdick Corbin Company introduced toy cash register banks
for home use in 1904. This actual register might have been a promotion
from Peninsular Cash Register to Burdick Corbin for ordering the toy
cash registers from their company.
Measures approximately 17" x 15" x 9 1/2". Probaby weighs about 50 lbs. Very sought after size for old cash registers.
