This vintage Edwardian era late teens black silk taffeta eyelet cutwork metallic embroidered tea gown dress dates from 1918. It is made of a black silk taffeta fabric with eyelet cutwork along the sleeves, side skirt panels and colorful silk, gold metallic thread embroidered trim on the front neckline and side belt buckle. This beautiful black tea gown dress has a layered style top, with weighted bottom hem, long asymmetrical bias cut sleeves attached underneath on the cotton cami top lining inside, silk button trim accents down the back, and attached belted sash with back drape, side skirt panels, snap closures closures on the front side top, waist and is lined only in the top, the skirt is unlined. The dress measures 48 inches long, with a 36 inch bust, 28 inch waist, 20 inch long sleeve and 11 inch back. It is in good as-is condition, with 1 missing button trim on the back, a small fray on the bottom side skirt panel, some staining discoloration on the back inside cotton cami top lining and 2 patched repairs reinforced under the arms (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful unique piece of wearable art! |
