International Space Station (ISS) Injection Molded Kit

OOP 1/144 Scale UNPAINTED Model from Intermounain Railway (IMR)

Collection of Rick Sternbach

This is an unbuilt 1/144 scale model of the International Space Station (ISS), produced by Intermountain Railway with the help of Johnson Engineering (Spacehab subsidiary) in 1998. Most instances of this kit were sold with basic painting done by IMR, and with decals applied. A number of us who are space model enthusiasts convinced IMR to let us have some kits totally undecorated, and this is one of them. Detailed instructions, a display stand, and decals are provided, though the Japanese NASDA decals will need to be replaced by homemade or third party JAXA markings. IMR also released a set of hardware enhancements, including seven sprue copies of trunnion pins and truss bits and manipulator arm pieces and many others, and one of those sets is included. Some modelers have worked with this kit, the Revell version, other third party space model companies, and scratchbuilt items to combine parts to make some very impressive ISS models, and this IMR kit is a great starting point. The injection molded parts are amazingly crisp, even in this age of 3D printing. This kit is from the collection of your seller, TNG/DS9/Voyager Senior Illustrator Rick Sternbach. Additional details about this kit can be found by searching out Ninfinger Productions Scale Models (look it up) and going to the kit reviews and articles section. I wrote up the IMR ISS review back in the day.
