Antique Huntley & Palmer biscuit tin in striking 'Oriental Casket' pattern with original manufacturer's sticker.

The tin was manufactured by Huntley, Boorne and Stevens of Reading, England and dates from the second half of the 19th century. This company was founded by Joseph Huntley junior, the son of the biscuit maker Joseph Huntley senior and was set up to produce metal tins for the protected transportation by rail of biscuits made by Huntley & Palmer

The tin is 23.5 cm (9 1/4 inches) by 22 cm (8 3/4 inches) and 12.5 cm (5 inches) deep

The tin is in excellent condition, very light surface scratching only, single dent to one lower edge, there are a couple of small rust patches to the lower edge of the lid, sellotape reisdue around the edges of the lid and wear to the underside. The lid still fits very tightly and the inside of the tin is excellent, hard to find in this condition
