At Katseye we are clinical aromatherapists and we have been making therapeutic products since 1978. The essential oils we use in the making of Katseye Blends (the “active aspect” in all our products) are also the essential oils we sell on eBay – we do not buy in cheap oils in order to compete on price with retailers. Our essential oils are intended for the professional therapist requiring true therapeutic grade essential oils.

The oils we supply are genuinely therapeutic grade – chosen for their therapeutic efficacy and not simply for fragrance. All our essential oils are 100% pure, undiluted and unadulterated.

Buying guide:
Variants: Do remember that each plant has many variants – consider the difference between a cherry tomato and a beef tomato – both are tomatoes but blatantly different to each other. The humble herb Basil has over 680 varieties and is grown all over the world.  So, if buying an essential you should always buy according to the botanical name i.e. If you simply buy “Basil” the difference between one bottle bought and the next could be the difference between a cherry and a beef tomato.

Origin: Country of origin is also very important. We sell Sandalwood (Santalum Album) which comes from Mysore in India – a small forested area just 50km square which produces unquestionably the best Sandalwood in the world. This oil is a full 25% more expensive than the same species which is grown all over India – why? Because the ancient forest of Mysore nestles between two small rivers and has the best atmospherics and soil which are not found anywhere else in India let alone Australia or Africa which also produce Santalum Album sometimes at half the price. Lavender (Lavendula Angustifolia) from England is quite herby and good for colds and flu, the same from France is quite floral and better for hair and perfume whereas the one we use is from Bulgaria and is a good balance between the English and French – so think about country of origin when buying essential oils

Fragrance:
All our buyers require a shelf life of at least 12 months from our oils so the oils we supply are “fresh” but bear in mind the difference between a green banana and a yellow banana. You cannot compare an oil that has been on your shelf for a year or more to a freshly produced oil. All natural things from fruit to wine mature over time and the fragrance evolves from often sharp tones to mellower tones – if you buy a perfume that always smells the same from when you bought and after and always smells the same when you buy a new one then I can safely assure you that it is synthetic and not natural. Would you be happy with a banana that was forever green?

So, when buying, consider botanical name, country of origin and also freshness of the oil.

It is true that therapeutic oils are sometimes more expensive than much of what is available but if you require essential oils that deliver to expectations then you should consider the simple fact that as with everything else in life – you get what you pay for and that is the basis of our guarantee to you – to give you what you pay for.
