51' ACF Cylindrical Hoppers
After WWII, USA Railroads were increasingly called upon to haul new and unique “modern” products over long distances. In response, American Car and Foundry (ACF) designed a tank-type covered hopper car. The cylindrical shape allowed a better weight/volume ratio plus the elimination of interior ledges, combined with hatches and outlets placed along a center-line, led to ACF's trademark "Center Flow" hoppers! Through the 1960's the “Cylindricals” became omnipresent on our Nation’s RR tracks, with many styles of hatches and outlets devised according to needs. Because the cars were compartmented, various loads could be carried in a single unit and some construction with aluminum reduced weight further. Here was a "Freight Car for the Future," ready to transport sugar, cement, sand, salt, fertilizers, many types of grains, coke, starch, feeds, chemicals and Plastics!
Full Throttle presents a pair of M-K-T Cylindrical Hoppers.The Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad (MKT) was incorporated in 1870. In its earliest days the MKT was commonly referred to as "the K-T", and soon evolved into "the Katy". Headquartered in Dallas, TX, the Freight Line served Eastern Texas, Oklahoma, Southeastern Kansas, and Central Missouri. MKT also ran an impressive "named" Passenger fleet! At the end of 1970, MKT operated 2623 miles of road and 3765 miles of track. MKT's early Diesels were red and red-orange, but after 1971, locomotives, cabooses, and other rolling stock were painted green with yellow stripes, lettering and numbering. In 1988, it's successor became the Union Pacific Railroad. Full Throttle brings you two liveries of MKT Cylindrical Hoppers.

Zowie! What a Super Sept. 2013 Set of Cylindrical Hoppers! FT offers M-K-T to the Z Scale modeler, a Rail Line revered in history and song! It's a modest-sized 51' Set of M-K-T ACF Cylindrical Hoppers, well-suited to even small personal track plans! The M-K-T is well-known throughout the Mid-West and Mid-South, especially proud for it's stunning Red Passenger Fleet! FT presents, here, a plain green painted Cylindrical and another sporting the "Bold Caps" logo which adorned much M-K-T equipment. Here's a 2-pk. with a very limited run of units! The models were manufactured with great details by Bowser Mfg., painted to a slight sheen and equipped with the new Bowser Roller Bearing trucks featuring super-gliding blackened metal wheels, and knuckle couplers. These Full Throttle M-K-T ACF Cylindrical Hopper Cars wear two new and unique reporting numbers, never before available.

As you can see, the crystal clear display box holds two cars, and is stackable! Inside, the cars are cradled in a foam liner and there is model information printed on the colorful cardstock sleeve.
