Presented for your consideration is this rare salesman sample of the New Illustrated Devotional and Practical Polyglot Family Bible. The book is a salesman sample of the full length Polyglot bible and was published by The National Publishing Company, United States Publishing Company and Jones Brothers & Co. It was entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1870 by J.R. Jones. This sample shows text and full page illustrations and maps from the Old and New Testaments that would be included in the full size version. It also contains sample pages for recording marriages, births and deaths. These pages are the only pages printed in color. The back of the book has samples of family portrait pages that would house wallet sized photographs or CDV photographs. Also in the back is further information on ordering the book, synopsis of contents and conditions. After the information page are several ruled, blank pages for subscriber information. Inside cover of the book has a full sized spine covering sample attached. The book is completed with a gold embossed hard cover and gold glit pages. All pages appear to be intact and free of damage. Binding is tight. This hard to find salesman sample book would make a great addition to any rare book or bible collection!
Some wear is along the spine edge and outer edges of the covers. Family portrait pages have pencil drawings inside of them and one subscriber page has been used. Minor foxing is present on the first half of the pages. No rips or tears. Free of water damage. Overall in VERY GOOD condition.
Measures 12" long, 9 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" thick.
