This 1997-P Proof American Silver Eagle presents you with a great option if you love the Silver Eagle design and would like to own a proof version of it from one of the lower mintage years. The Silver Eagle design has remained constant since it was originally minted in 1986, and this proof version is no exception. Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty design from the defunct half dollar that bears its name appears on the obverse. Carrying branches of laurel and oak that serve to symbolize civilian and military honors, the goddess Liberty is shown draped in the American flag and stepping confidently from right to left. In front of her on the face of the coin is the setting sun, the rays of which emanate throughout its quadrant of the coin. An eagle is shown guarding a shield on the reverse in a design that John Mercanti modeled off of the Great Seal of the United States. Consisting of .999 Troy oz. of silver at a purity of .999, this piece would make a beautiful addition to any collection, as evidenced by its PF69 Ultra Cameo grade from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).
