Lanna, Thailand - dating from the 19th century.

Hand carved from a single section of native hard-wood (teak) timber.

The Buddha is depicted seated above a shaped integral plinth - the plinth finished in a deep red lacquer. Positioned with Mudra of "Calling the Earth to Witness", the Buddha is finished in a dense gold lacquer - the hair finished in black lac.

Overall height - 9" (229mm), max. width - 3 7/8" (98mm).

Weight - 350 grams

Condition - Very Good. No chips or cracks and no repairs. Natural colour and patina.

This piece has been examined and shows signs of genuine age and usage.
