*Keep in mind when choosing your size in a modern rockered ski that having rocker takes some of the ski's length off the snow
So, they ski a little shorter than the length would indicate.

The Smash 7 is an incredible value ski that Rossi offers for the athletic all mountain skier who is on a tight budget.  The Smash 7 has a substantial construction, and a very modern shape.  No other ski that we know of offers so much performance in a wider, double rockered profile at a price like this.

The design of the Smash 7 starts with a wood/composite core that offers quite a lot of torsional stiffness.  That is a key to a wider ski.  More resistance to twisting means the ski will hold its edge better.  Then Rossignol wraps this core with a one piece cap top sheet/sidewall structure that further enhances the structure of the ski.  A cap design gives the ski a light and lively feel on the snow.  Finally, Rossi incorporates their Powder Turn rocker/camber profile.  With this profile, the ski is very, very easy to turn, and it also is able to handle deeper snow with an amazing degree of ease.  For the skier that is looking to get off trail, ski the big dump of snow, and not spend a lot of money, this is the perfect ski.  But, for the mostly on trail, groomer skier, the Experience 75 at a similar price may be a good choice.

The new rocker profile and width are what set this ski apart from other entry level skis on the market.  With a 92 mm waist, and a similar rocker/camber shape to other models in Rossignol's 7 series, the Smash 7 is really in a class all by itself.  Never has a good skiing pow ski been so affordable, and never has all mountain skiing been easier for the new skier who wants to access deeper snow on a budget.  We cannot think of another ski that offers this combination of price and powder performance from any other manufacturer.  If you want to ski off piste and you are looking for a new ski that will make this condition easier without a big drain on your bank account, Smash 7 is definitely your ski!

Check out what makes the Smash 7 work:
  • Powder Turn Rocker combines rocker in the tip and tail with camber under foot. Rocker allows you to ski in a more aggressive stance over the balls of your feet in powder the same way you would on hard snow without having to worry about keeping the tips up. It also lets you "smear" turns in powder making way easier to adjust your line and maintain and control your speed. Skiing powder is effortless with rocker. Camber under foot maintains pop, edge hold and power. This, combined with the generous sidecut in the middle half of the ski, is what makes the ski so good in crud and so carve capable on trail.
  • Poplar Wood Core combined with composite material offers the structural and dampening qualities of wood in a lighter, more forgiving flex.  Poplar is a fast growing, light weight wood with exceptional strength to weight ration.
  • Rossi Top cap top sheet and sidewall structure gives the ski a quick and lively feel on the snow.  Cap constructed skis have a springier quality that helps a skiers legs feel stronger.  More rebound from the ski helps the ski generate the up and down rhythmical motion necessary for skiing in deeper snow.
  • 92mm waist width will offer lots of surface area so the ski can float in deeper snow.  Skiing in powder is very much like skiing in water.  More surface area helps the skis stay on top of the snow, rather than sinking to the bottom where it is hard to move the skis from turn to turn.
We have this ski matched up with the Tyrolia LRX 7.5 LiteRail binding.  Lite Rail is a great choice to go with this ski, and offers a number of features not available with the usual direct mount binding.  With a rail/track installed on the ski and the binding attached to the rail, it can fit any boot without the need to re-drill any holes ever.  So, if the boot gets changed, or the ski changed to a different user, the binding can always be adjusted to fit.  But, MORE IMPORTANTLY, LiteRail allows the position of the boot on the ski to be changed.  This allows the skier to figure out where to stand on the ski for the best performance and feel that the Sassy 7 can offer.  There is no way to know exactly where any particular skier should stand on the a ski without experimentation.  This LRX 7.5 model offers other great features that are a good match to this ski.  Check out the features of the Tyrolia LRX 7.5:
  • Wide Toe Design – Wide platform and wraparound design increases leverage over the edge of the ski for improved edging power on wide skis.
  • Lite Rail adjustability allows the LRX to fit any boot with no holes to redrill.  And, it allows the toe and heel to be moved independently so the skiers position on the ski can be changed.
  • Gliding AFD - Anti Friction Device glides with the boot as it releases from the binding so that wear on the boot sole has less affect on binding release, but still maintains a wide platform under foot and tight boot/binding interface.
  • Time tested Heel mechanism is much, much easier to step into than the vertical spring, single pivot heel design that has become common in new freeride bindings.  ESPECIALLY in soft snow and/or steep terrain, this is major complaint women have about bindings.  Problem solved!
  • This binding has a DIN range of 2.5 to 7.5, and will work for any skier with a DIN setting of 3.0 or higher.  That is a great fit for the lighter weight skier.

Take advantage of our premount service for FREE when you purchase at the Buy it Now price (normally $29.00).  We will premount the bindings to your boot sole length., and lovingly hand tune the tips and tails, and wax the bases as well.  All included if you click Buy it Now.  Once you receive your new babies, just take them to any authorized technician for final adjustment, and they are ready to hit the snow.  This will save you time and money after your new skis arrive.  Just tell us in the comment box that you want the Premount service, and what the length of your boot sole is in mm.
