We are pleased to offer this Antique Iron Clamp Lantern Holder that mounts onto a 2 x 4 in a Log Cabin or Barn or Loft, etc. This holder was made in the 1900's in Yankton, South Dakota ~ after one of the Lumber Yards had a fire, which destroyed a large part of the inventory. The lumber yard tried to salvage merchandise & started making these lantern holders from the iron strapping that had formerly been used for strapping the old wooden wagons. A man named Ted Rathjen got all these holders from the Lumber Company way back when & my husband bought them from Ted over 45 years ago...always thinking that someday these clamp-holders would be valuable. We have never seen these any place else & only parted with a few of them over the years to our friends. This lantern (or milk pail holder) clamps around & into a 2 x 4 stud with ease & the underside prong pushes into the wood to secure it. This early 1900's holder is in fantastic usable condition, & measures approx 7 1/4" outward & the lantern clamp snap hangs down about 3 1/4". We show one of these clamp-holders mounted to a 2 x 4 holding a lantern to give you the idea of how it works & looks when mounted (the old lantern & the 2 x 4 wood piece are not included in this listing ~ being used for display purpose only). Please take the time to view all our photos for additional item specifics and condition details, because our pictures are also considered to be a part of our description ~ Thank you and may GOD Bless the USA and God bless our Beloved Troops & Veterans!
