All the metal work is of a light weight metal, presumably aluminium. The top suspender is in a gilt color, of plaque form with an inset oblong of red enamel. The back of the top suspender has a multi circle finish and a simple pin badge fitting; there is also a maker's symbol to the back. To the bottom of the top suspender there is a fixed ring, through which passes a flexible ring which attaches to a fixed ring at the top of the actual badge. The medal or badge itself is circular in shape and is again in a gilt finish. The front has a gadrooned type edge with a main raised pentagonal shaped 'badge' in red enamel, bearing the letters to the top. Laurel branches frame a roundel of white enamel which contains Russian script and Red Cross and Red Crescent symbols. The back of the medal/badge also has a multi circle finish; there are no maker's marks. The total length of the suspender and medal is approximately 56 mm and the badge/medal itself measures approximately 30 mm in diameter.

All the metal work would benefit from a light clean. There is wear to the gilt finish in several places of the top suspender and actual badge - you can see white metal 'poking' through in a couple of places on the back of the actual badge. There is age related wear to the metal on both parts of the piece. The red enamel on the front of the top suspender has a firing blister to it.
