This pretty. English Victorian buckle brooch is made of 15 carat gold with natural seed pearls. In Victorian times a buckle symbolised ‘I am joined to you’. So a young man would offer this type of piece to his sweetheart.

The oval brooch measures 7/8” (2.3cms) by 5/8” (1.7cms). It weighs 3 grams.

The oval is set with lustrous seed pearls. The airy interior has a rod and two prongs of a buckle.

The reverse has an old style c clip. The pin is gently curved. Whether it was made like this I don’t know but it definitely helps the pinning process. The edge is marked ‘15ct’ for 15 carat gold.

In fine antique condition, this is a piece which is sure to please. It will arrive in a gift box.
