The culture of China keeps on fascinating thousands of people since very long ago. One of the most iconic representations of this Oriental country is the dragon. To celebrate the Year of the Dragon, in 2012, Fiji has issued a stunning coin that features silver filigree, which makes this masterpiece a really rare and beautiful addition to any collection. The mintage of this .999 silver work is 4.000 pieces, and each of them is encapsulated and delivered is a stylish black clamshell case.
The obverse has no traditional queen's effigy. Instead, the coin has the delicate filigree that can be seen on both sides. Anyway, to commemorate the official head of the Fiji islands, they have placed the name of the regent on the obverse. Along with the queen's name, you can see several other inscriptions explaining the country and the year of issue, the nominal value of the coin and the rate of silver purity.
The reverse side of the proof coin has featured ornaments, an image of dragon, and an inscription that stands for the name of the coin. However, the most exciting part of the coin is the filigree, of course. The dragon symbol placed in the middle of the coin is made of silver wire, which is not much thicker than a hair. The fact that this is the second coin ever made with silver filigree makes it an even more exciting object for passionate collectors.
