Hand raised from beaten sheet brass, tapering in form. The rim is rolled and swaged - creating a rigid construction.
The area below the rim is embellished with a band of pierced trellis work, incorporating four shaped cartouches. Bands of highly complex and intricate chiseled geometric decoration embellish the entire surface of the tapering vessel. The decoration incorporates four cartouches to each of the broadest bands, (four bands in total, including the pierced work). The cartouches contain kufic inscriptions - each inscribed group of four detailed by images 6,7,8 & 9.
Overall diameter - 14 1/2" (369mm), height - 11 1/16" (282mm).
Weight - 2,399 grams
Condition - Very Good. No dents or repairs. Minor surface marks, (consistent with genuine age and usage). Fine natural colour and patina.
