A PAIR OF UNUSED CHENILLE EMBROIDERED CUSHION COVERS FROM THE 1930'S, UNBLEACHED

Description

A beautiful pair of unused large cushion covers from the 1920's/30's, the hand embroidery worked on unbleached natural Irish linen and very traditional of their period.

Measuring approx 19.1/2" x 20", the covers have a large flower basket worked in silk chain stitch.  It has a large double handle and the shaped basket has wonderful huge red flowers worked in red chenille stitchwork, each of the flowers having a big yellow centre.  Chain stitch embroidery shapes the leaves and the basket is framed with a curled line of gold chain stitch.

Opening is at the bottom end and will need to be sewn once a cushion pad is inserted.

The unbleached natural linen is quite a dark fawn (much browner than in photographs),  but it will launder to a lighter cream with each wash and will become a most pleasing shade as time goes on.

Please note I will invoice within 24 hours of listing finish. If you are bidding from abroad, please wait for me to contact you as postage quoted is for the UK only.
