This listing is for a Vintage Pair of McIntosh Audio Compensators Model C-108 C108 Tube Mono Preamplifiers. The preamplifiers are in working condition and very nice cosmetic condition. They were produced by McIntosh from 1954 to 1955 and were powered by McIntosh amplifiers such as a 50-W2, 20-W2, A-116 (which were current McIntosh amplifier models in 1954 and 1955) or a D-101 power supply as can be seen on the back of the units in the posted pictures. Later McIntosh amplifiers such as the A-116A, MC-30, MC-40, MC-60 and MC-75 had octal sockets that were used for power for the preamps. As you can see from the pictures the earlier C-108 serial number 1100 came with an original wood cabinet while the later C-108 serial number 2015 had a polished metal metal cabinet. The earlier model does not have a highly polished metal case. Also the earlier model use a different kind of control knobs which I do not know if they are original or not to this preamp.

Due to age the preamplifiers are being sold AS IS.
