Malay brasswork - dating from the second half of the 19th century.

A cast and turned exceptionally large copper alloy (brass) spittoon, based on traditional form and design.

The broad baluster, or campana, form rests on an integral flaring circular foot. Bands of raised ring turning embellish the otherwise plain form.

This good example shows signs of genuine age and usage.

Overall top rim diameter - 12 1/4" (312mm), height - 15 5/8" (396mm).

Weight - 3.4 kg.

Condition - Very Good. A slight casting flaw at the rim. no repairs. Natural colour and patina.
