SMC Takumar lenses were the pinnacle of many years of screw mount lens development by Asahi Pentax and featured the improved 'Super-Multi-Coated' optical coating. It features a closest focusing distance of 0.45m, a fast maximum aperture of f/1.8 (minimum f/16) with half-stops selectable on the aperture ring between f/1.8 to f/11, 6 elements / 5 groups optical construction, auto/manual diaphragm operation, a 6-bladed diaphragm and a 49mm filter/accessory thread.
