The Vichy French State was that portion of France that was sympathetic toward the Germany & Italy ( Axis Forces ).
General Charles de Gaulle was in charge of the "Free Army". General de Gaulle spent the majority of World War 2 in exile in Great Britain. The Free Army is better known as the French Resistance.
