These Indus Valley vessels have a striking aesthetic, both with wonderful vibrant painted decoration of geometric patterns, dating to around 2600 - 2000 BC.

The Indus Valley Culture flourished throughout large areas of modern India and Pakistan during the 3rd Millennium BC, along the flood plains of the Indus, a river flowing from its headwaters in the Himalayan mountains. Along with Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia it was one of three early civilizations of the Old World, and of the three the most widespread. The roots of our own urban civilization lie in the remarkable developments that took place during this period. Although remote in time and place, this urban revolution, first represented by the formation of cities in areas such as the Indus Valley, must be looked upon as one of humanity's defining moments.
