A Great Way to Record Video from models without the expense of a full FPV outfit...
Fantastic Little Camcorders For All Types Of RC Models...
Brand New, just add your own Micro SD card....2-8Gb.
FPV (First Person View) for all types of RC models, model aircraft in particular, is really gaining in popularity as time moves on...this tiny camcorder, though not strictly true FPV (as the video footage can't be watched 'live') will appeal to those modellers who don't wish to purchase a complete FPV kit, complete with Tx., Rx., plugs and leads etc., but simply want an uncomplicated camera to record their flights, but still maintaining a decent level of video quality. (See my other items for more complete FPV sets).
Fantastic For All Aerial Sports, such as gliding, kiteflying, climbing, parascending and suchlike, very light and easy to use.
PLEASE NOTE:
The camera is now 'plug and play', so no software is necessary.
I've been interested in RC models for years and one of my passions is recording 'in-flight' footage using various types of small video recorders and digital cameras. Over the past couple of seasons, I've been sourcing different makes and selling them successfully on eBay. They range from the small digital camcorders to the key chain cameras.
OK, this little marvel doesn't have the facility to be controlled remotely, but all you need to do is start recording at the beginning of a session and stop recording at the end. The recorded footage can then be downloaded to your computer; the bits you don't want can then be edited out in your favourite video editing programme. (I use Windows Movie Maker which is free and comes within Windows XP). Quite an acceptable and professional job can be achieved with this.
Because of its light weight, it can also be used on much lighter aircraft and helis without affecting the flight quality. So, it can be attached to smaller foam models and light electrics where final flying flight weight is more critical. Just add your own Micro SD card.
Main Function: Video recording "Spy Device" and USB drive.

The camera is very easily attached to any model, you can use velcro, tape or similar. The following video clips were shot with this camera mounted on an EPP Eagle RC electric glider. First clip has the camera on the wing leading edge, 2nd. clip it's at the tail, 3rd. clip it's atop the wing at CG point. Because the model is made from foam, I simple used large pins an elastic bands to hold the camcorder in place, along with a piece of balsa to keep the camera angle akin to 45 degrees. You can see this illustrated in the video clips. There is a slight vibration when the electric motor is running, but this is to be expected as the camera was mounted quite close to the motor. This noise diminishes, obviously, when the model is gliding.
I've found through experience that the optimal angle for taking video footage on aircraft is at 45 degrees to the ground.
This seems to give the best results, both lighting and viewed subjects seem to be fine at this angle. However, you can mount yours where you think you get best results, experimentation is good here, you'll have great fun doing it as well.
As stated, the camcorder is brand new.
