Selling here is an attractively bound copy of James Thomson's 'The Seasons...', printed in London, 1819. 

8vo, attractively bound in period tree calf gilt, spine gilt lettered and decorated. 

The book measures 13.7cm by 21.5cm.

The contents are complete, meeting collation: lxxii,[2],310pp, with copper engraved portrait frontispiece and 4 further engraved plates depicting the seasons. "An account of the life and writings of Mr. J. Thomson" by Patrick Murdoch, and "An essay on the plan and character of Thomson's Seasons" by John Aikin, each with caption title. Publisher's advertisement on verso of contents page.

Condition: The binding is holding firmly and is in good to very good condition, with some general wear to surface / extremities from handling, corners bumped and abraded. Contents are holding firmly and are generally in good clean condition if a little toned, with some light scattered foxing / damp staining particularly to upper flyleaves and frontispiece, occasional creases or dust marking though nothing too disfiguring. Period plain endpapers.
