The U.S. Navy's last carrier-launched Phantom.
The
final F-4S Phantom II ever launched from a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier
belonged to the VF-151 "Vigilantes" fighter squadron. This historic
launch took place aboard the U.S.S. Midway, on March 25, 1986. The
squadron soon replaced their aging fleet of Phantom IIs with the
cutting-edge F/A-18 Hornet, resulting in the end of an era which few
aircraft have ever surpassed.
