Titanium Crowbar -- Will Never Rust or Corrode!

Also Available in a 28" Version!

Material Specialties Scandinavia, Inc. first introduced Titanium Crowbars in the 1990s. For twenty years these bars have been produced from high quality Commercially Pure Titanium (CP) Grade 1. Over all of these years, we have never had an instance of a bar being broken during normal use. Still, we decided on this iteration, to upgrade the material to Grade 5 (Ti6Al4V.) This material is quite frankly ridiculously strong, with an average yield strength of 130,000 PSI. Our new, improved tool is over twice as strong as the initial bar. They are hand forged to our design and quality control from a solid titanium rod. Taking it a step further, we have hand polished each tool to a bright mirror finish. This makes an aesthetically beautiful tool, but, it also further enhances the strength, as all surface imperfection are removed leaving no place for cracks to form.*

Our new Premium Titanium Crowbar is an unbelievably beautiful tool, well balanced and a pleasure to use. It's very difficult to capture this beauty in photos. Titanium has much greater spring back than steel, is more fatigue resistant and non-magnetic. Our Titanium tools are ultra light weight, weighing less than 40% of comparable steel tools and are ten times stronger than Aluminum. If fact, this 24" Titanium Pry Bar weighs only 21 ounces, 600 grams. This light weight reduces the penalty of carrying extra tools, and greatly reduces user fatigue. Titanium is absolutely impervious to the elements. It will never rust, corrode or discolor in any way. So, it is perfect for use in adverse marine environments.

Please note: This is a fine tool. It is not designed as a "Cat's Paw," to be used with a mallet or hammer to dig nail heads out which have become embedded. Titanium is a very strong material with excellent mechanical properties. That's why it finds a home in practically 100% of all high tech aerospace structural components. In metals, hardness usually equals heavy, and almost always equals brittle. Brittle things fatigue easily and ultimately break when flexed. Please don't confuse strong and hard. They are two different properties of all materials. Titanium is not an ultra-hard material. It can withstand repeated flexation cycles and keep on working. This tool is designed to last forever if used properly. Striking any Titanium Tool with a hardened steel hammer will inflict damage on the tool and is not recommended.
* - The ends of the bars are bent in a mandrel and hot forged in an inert gas atmosphere to form the claw. No two are exactly the same. Tool marks on the smooth bar surface are unavoidable when working the material due to the forces required to bend and form this very tough material. They do not affect the strength of the bar adversely. But, as the bars are polished, the tool marks are filled during this process to give a better finish. Since the fill material is dissimilar in grain structure to the extruded bar, it may appear to be a slightly different color. Small marks, pits, etc. in the fill material will not form nucleation points for cracks to propagate into the bar, as this material is not monolithic to the bar. Also, as the tips of the bar are placed in the mandrel by hand, there can be minor differences in the symmetry of the tips. There can also be small amounts of thin residual material in the "V" between the tips. To remove this material or reform the tips by grinding would require a secondary extensive working operation in an inert gas (oxygen free) environment and would greatly add to the production cost. This is not done as these are purely cosmetic features and do not affect the performance of the tool as a pry or crow bar.
