Here is some information about the Irish Half Penny
The Irish half penny coin, designed by Percy Metcalfe, was the second smallest denomination of the pre-decimal pound.
There were 480 half pennies in a pound.
It weighs 5.67 grams and is 25.5mm in diameter (1.005 inches) and 1.77mm thick.
It is made of bronze which is 95.5% copper, 3% tin and 1.5% zinc
It was fist minted in 1928 with the date split on either side of the harp
and saorstát éireann (Irish Freestate) circling around until 1937 and then from 1939 until 1967 (the last year minted) éire
was on the left of the harp and the date was placed on the right of the harp

The Irish one penny coin was designed by Percy Metcalfe and featured a hen and five chicks.
On the other side is the Irish harp, from 1928-1937 the date was split on either side of the with saorstát éireann
(irish freestate) and from 1938-1968 (the last year minted) éire was on the left of the harp and the
date on the right hand side.
The coin is 1.215 inches (30.9mm) in diameter - about the same size as the American half dollar, 1.9mm thick,
weighs 9.45 grams and is made of bronze which is 95.5% copper, 3% tin and 1.5% zinc
It was the third smallest denomination of the pre-decimal pound, there was 240 pennies in a pound.
It was first issued in 1928 and was used in circulation until 1971

The Irish three pence coin was designed by Percy Metcalfe and featured a blue hare on the reverse.
On the other side(obverse) is the Irish harp, from 1928-1937 the date was split on either side of the harp
with saorstát éireann (irish freestate) and from 1939-1968 (the last year minted)
éire was on the left of the harp and the date on the right hand side.
The coin is 0.695 inches (17.7mm) in diameter - 1.9mm thick and weighs 3.23 grams
From 1928 until 1940 the coin was made from nickel
and from 1942 until the last year minted - 1968 the coin was made of cupronickel - 75% copper and 25% nickel
It was the fourth smallest denomination of the pre-decimal pound, there was 80 threepences in a pound.
It was first issued in 1928 and was used in circulation until 1971
