VINTAGE PAUL FLATO JEWELLED STAR POWDER COMPACT CIRCA 1940

Description

 This auction is for a good quality vintage powder compact manufactured by Paul Flato who was a popular American jeweller from the 1920s to the 1940s and was considered to be the first celebrity jeweller.

This powder compact measures 7 cms square and is made of gold tone metal. The lid has brushed gold tone effect whilst the lid has plished gold tone and features embossed stars each with a clear and faceted clear "jewel" centre.

The case has firm hinge and secure clasp and opens to reveal a bright and shiny gold tone interior. Under the lid is a clear and reflective framed glass mirror. The powder well in the base is covered by a hinged polished gold tone door which has the FLATO mark in the bottom right hand corner. This hinged door opens correctly to access the powder well beneath which is now empty.

This powder compact is offered in very good condition. There is no damage or flaws noted other than some darkening to the metal only on the sides. The compact coms with it's original black and gold silk faille slip case. Thank you for looking.
