This lot is for a superb Gents Seiko Automatic Scuba Diver's Watch. The model is the 7002-7000 A1, dating originally from July 1996.

In excellent pre-owned condition, with a custom new 'Donald Duck' Dial in an unusual Military Green, a new matching Chapter Ring, and new custom '7002' Hands.  I've fitted a brand new scratch-resistant Mineral Crystal. The watch also has a terrific new ceramic 'Submariner' bezel insert, also in Green, and a brand new aftermarket Seiko 'Accordion' rubber diver's strap.  This classic Scuba Diver's watch has been professionally Serviced and Regulated, and is running beautifully, keeping accurate time.  The large dual-finish steel Case has been expertly polished and rebrushed, and is in excellent condition. The watch also has a 'Quickset' Date window. I've upgraded the luminous treatment to the hands and markers (and the Insert is luminous too). I'll also provide a full Seiko instruction manual (in a downloadable/printable PDF file).

Please read on.

Dial/Hands  New, custom Scuba Diver's Dial, in the classic '7002' style, in a distinctive Military Green colour, and featuring a portrait of everybody's favourite duck (in one of his less grumpy moods!). The Dial is signed 'SEIKO, Automatic' to the upper right of centre, 'WATER 150M RESIST, 17 JEWELS' below centre, and 'Made In Japan, 7002 700L R, Lightning Flash Symbol' is at six o'clock.  Baton markers instead of numbers, larger at 6 and 9, and a larger inverted Arrowhead at 12.  There's a 'Quickset' Date window at 3 o'clock. Minute markers run around the raised outer Chapter Ring, which is green to match the dial, and set at an angle, which adds an impression of extra depth to the watch.

The hands are new, lume-filled steel, in the classic '7002' style - an 'Arrowhead' minute hand, a 'Broadsword' hour hand, while the Seconds hand is a white 'needle' with a lumed circle near the tip.  I've upgraded the luminous treatment on the hands and markers, they glow beautifully after exposure to light, and it lasts for a decent spell, which is a nice bonus (typical aftermarket dials don't generally have much 'lume', if any).

Case Large stainless steel Case in excellent condition, with a Highly-polished finish to the sides, and a Satin-brushed finish to the upper surfaces (I've had this expertly polished and rebrushed, and it has come up beautifully - I can't see any marks, even up close, but to cover myself there may be some tiny 'hairlines' on the steel finish at worst, certainly no nicks or obvious scratches, and the case edges are nicely defined).

Bezel Bidirectional steel Bezel, medium resistance, turns with 60 ratcheted 'clicks', in excellent condition, with a standout new ceramic 'Submariner' Bezel Insert - also in green, printed with elapsed-time markings, and with a very unusual luminous treatment.

Caseback The screwdown Caseback is in terrific condition, again expertly polished, with only minimal tiny marks. The manufacturer wording on the caseback is clear and defined, and reads as follows: "Seiko, Stainless Steel, 7002-7000 A1, Scuba Diver's, 670261, A" plus the Seiko Wave logo in the centre. Please see the caseback photos (click to enlarge):

I've also taken some additional close-up pictures of the case sides (note the crisp definition between the polished and brushed surfaces, and the defined case edges) - click to enlarge:

And some extra snaps showing the enhanced luminous treatment on the Hands, Markers and the excellent ceramic Bezel Insert, after brief exposure to a bright light:

Crown Original screwdown ridged edge steel crown, offset at the 4 o'clock position, screws down and adjusts perfectly, stem is fine. Cleaned and polished, in very good condition, some tiny marks on the fluted sides.

Crystal New scratch resistant Mineral Crystal, in excellent condition, with no marks of any kind. Some 'clickable' close up pictures:

Movement Seiko 7002A 17 Jewel Automatic movement. I've had the movement professionally serviced and regulated, and the watch is running strong and true. The Serial Number indicates the original manufacturing date as July 1996. New gaskets have been fitted.

Strap A brand new aftermarket Seiko Z22 'Accordion' ridged rubber Diver's strap has been fitted, with a floating keeper, along with a new brushed steel buckle. I've used 'Fat' Seiko Spring Bars, which are a much better fit for these straps, and help to ensure that the case lug holes don't get worn and loose. Will comfortably fit a wrist size of up to 8.5" (220mm+). I've taken some extra photos of the strap - click if you want to enlarge:

Running Condition Running, and keeping excellent time. As well as the Service, I've regulated the movement, and tested it using a professional timing machine. The watch has also been 'bench-tested' twice on an automatic winder, over at least 24 hours each time, and is accurate to better than +/-30 seconds per day max. The testing report showed some very minor positional variances, but within the stated tolerance.

Measurements Width without crown - 42.1mm (46.1mm including crown), Lug to Lug - 45.4mm, depth 13.1mm. Weight total 100 grams.

Other  Though Seiko have previously made watches featuring Donald Duck, I don't think you'll find one quite like this! It's a terrific Seiko Diver's Automatic watch, in a large 42.1mm, which wears quite proudly on the wrist as it's a shade over 13mm deep. Even though it's on a Seiko 'Accordion' rubber Diver's strap, it's a substantial 100 grams, and feels solid and well constructed, with a significant wrist presence. The 17 Jewel Seiko 7002A Automatic movement has been fully serviced and regulated, and is working beautifully, the watch keeps accurate time.

The large dual-finish steel Diver's case has been expertly rebrushed and repolished, and looks excellent.

I've fitted a new ceramic and luminous 'Submariner' Bezel Insert, which is very smart addition, and looks great set against the classic Seiko dial with the custom Donald Duck design. They go together really well, and add to the iconic Scuba Diver's appearance. I've upgraded the luminous treatment to the custom hands and markers, and they glow nicely after exposure to light, and it lasts a little while too.

Though pre-owned, this watch really is in very good condition, with only minimal signs of any use, and has clearly been maintained well.  I'll send the winning bidder a downloadable/printable PDF File with the full Seiko instructions, which will show you how to change the date and maintain the watch etc.

Please Note: The majority of watches I sell are pre-owned, or New, but Old Stock. Whilst I go to every effort to describe the watches accurately, you should be aware that should a watch be marked Water Resistant or Waterproof, that was the case when it left the factory, and is not necessarily the case now.  Unless specifically stated, these watches are not fully serviced (though they will have been inspected inside and out).  Unless specifically stated, I offer no guarantees as to the current level of Water Resistance. Similarly, though I test all watches for accuracy and describe accordingly, this is no guarantee of future performance. Vintage automatic or hand-winding watches are by definition less accurate than their modern quartz counterparts. When purchasing a vintage watch, especially of high value, I would always advise the buyer to have the item inspected by a qualified jeweller, who should be able to identify any issues that I may have missed, and advise on water resistance, or servicing requirements.  Of course, should any issue then come to light, I will do everything possible to assist - as you can see from my 100% Feedback!

I've got a few other interesting lots coming up for sale in the next few weeks (Breitling Seiko Armani Omega Gucci Boss Diesel) -  Check out my other items! or be sure to add me to your favourites list!
