• Description: A beautiful extremely fine banknote from Algeria. This is the January 1, 1942 Twenty Francs or Vingt Francs. The date is shown as 30-1-1942 in the center of the front. This note is a dull purple on blue under-print. It depicts the portrait of young woman wearing a head dress at the lower right on the front. The back has the same coloring and has the image of two children holding a diamond having the number 20 in it. There are cactus plants to the left. The note is mostly in French with the denomination spelled out in Arabic on the front. This particular note has the serial number 90926893 located in the top center of the front. It is series B.3638 and has another number in the top right corner and bottom left corner (893), which we are not certain what it is. It has two signatures both in French. The banknote has watermark which says twenty francs in Arabic in a small white circle on top of a larger white circle having a water mark with a woman in a head dress facing right. Both circles are to the left of the front. Please carefully review scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

• Condition: I would grade this banknote as an extremely fine or better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has many creases both vertical and horizontal. It has some soiling, some minor staining, but it has no pinholes. The note has one small nick on the top edge near the right corner but no other tears or splits. The corners are intact with minimum rounding, but are all well creased. The colors seem to be a bit faded, but it could also be that that is the way the note has been printed, we are not certain.
