This plug and play digital sound decoder is for KATO HO Scale C44-9W diesel engines.
The TSU-KT1000 Digital Sound Decoder is specially designed to allow even the most timid to easily install 16-bit digital sound in Kato HO diesel models. Nothing is sacrificed; all the features that you’ve come to expect from any SoundTraxx Tsunami Digital Sound Decoder are included. These Digital Sound Decoders are designed to replace the light board that comes in recent production Kato HO diesel engines. Since Tsunami comes with 16 airhorns appropriate to the prototype, no special software or programmer is necessary to achieve the absolute best sound available!
Tsunami's sound features are matched only by its superior motor control and brilliant lighting effects, making it unsurpassed in its technological capabilities. A 32-bit digital signal processor provides the necessary horsepower Tsunami needs to support a multitude of functions, sound effects, and advanced motor control features.
Because of the design and placement of the lights in these models, each decoder is manufactured to suit a particular model rather than prototype.
BIG Sound Features
The TSU-KT1000 is available in a variety of prime movers and physical board layouts to suit your Kato HO diesel model. Tsunami diesel decoders can produce over 14 sound effects, including engine startup and shutdown, engine prime mover through all eight notches, bell, airhorn, air compressor, dynamic brakes, radiator fans, brake squeal, and more.
Tsunami goes several steps beyond ordinary sound generators. Tsunami is so powerful that it comes with its own special effects processors -- the Equalizer, Sound Mixer and Reverb. It's like having a complete sound studio at your fingertips!
Brilliant Lighting Effects
Tsunami TSU-KT1000 includes two board-mounted golden LEDs for the headlight and backup light, with two additional outputs available to use for other Hyperlight™ lighting features. The hardware is already on the circuit board for use with LEDs, so there is no need for external resistors.
Advanced Motor Control
We have designed Hyperdrive™ technology into the decoder, resulting in smooth and precise locomotive operation. Hyperdrive includes many features, such as high-resolution speed steps, high-frequency PWM drive, and torque control, all designed to improve the running characteristics of your locomotive.
Prototypical Operation
With the press of a key on your DCC controller, you can blow horns, ring the bell, and activate lighting effects. The more functions your controller has, the more fun you'll have!

Hobby Time ships Monday through Friday excluding US holidays.
We prepare, pack and electronically notify our shippers of the shipment of your order each “Shipping Day” between 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Central time zone Monday through Friday (excluding holidays and vacations). Orders released for shipment prior to 3:00pm are processed on that day.
Transfer of Parcels – 7:00pm to 9:30 am
Parcels are delivered to the various carriers after the close of our Business Day, between 7:00 pm of the “Shipping Day” and 9:30 am the following morning.
Worst Case example:
If you place an order and it is released by PayPal for shipment after 3:00 pm on the Friday afternoon before a Monday Holiday, that order will be processed the next “Shipping Day” which is the following Tuesday. (Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday and the Monday holiday are not shipping days)
USPS Express Mail (2-3 business day delivery in the U.S.)
Depending on when your order is submitted and PayPal releases the order to us as “OK to ship”, the time of delivery that eBay estimates may not be valid as the actual “Guaranteed Delivery” time of the United States Postal Service. The difference often varies 24 hours or more.
The USPS only guarantees delivery for an Express Parcel after the shipping fee is paid to them and the label printed by the shipper.
We have no control over the USPS and make NO Guarantees beyond the USPS Guaranteed Delivery time.
When your order is processed during our “Shipping Day” the label is printed and tracking information is provided to you “the customer” through eBay. The customer can then view the actual Guaranteed Delivery time by entering the tracking number on USPS.com.
