  • The Ferrari Dino 246 GT was a rolling homage to Enzo Ferrari’s son, Alfredo “Dino” Ferrari, as it offered a uniquely exhilarating mid-engined driving experience that was wrapped up in one of Pininfarina’s most balanced designs. Dino Ferrari, a trained engineer, had proposed a downsized engine range in the 1950s, but his untimely passing in 1956 meant that he never got to see his dream come to fruition. Eventually, his father Enzo approved the Dino sub-brand to serve as a gateway brand and to square off against cars like the Porsche 911. With its mid-mounted V-6 allowing for ideal weight distribution and a more streamlined nose, the Dino was a true sports car that was genuinely worthy of the Ferrari name.

To top it all off, its aggressive, Modena-bred exhaust note gave most owners, and the contemporary press, little to complain about. For 1969, the Dino’s 2.0-litre engine was enlarged to 2,418 cubic centimeters, giving the 206 its new 246 nomenclature. The Fiat-built, 65-degree powerplant featured an iron block with alloy heads and was enough to catapult the Leonardo Fioravanti-designed 246 GT into great sales success. Their responsive handling and free-revving engines characterized Ferrari well into the 1990s, giving the Dino a long-lasting appeal.

Daniel Schmitt and Co. Classic Car Gallery is pleased to offer you this beautifully restored 1971 Ferrari Dino 246 GT, which is among one of the finest examples we have seen in many years! It is finished in gorgeous Nuovo Giallo Fly Yellow, with two-tone black and tan Daytona leather seats.

According to the research by noted Ferrari Historian Marcel Massini, chassis number 03064 was completed by the factory on December 22, 1971 and was delivered new to William F. Harrah's U.S. West Coast Ferrari Distributorship, Modern Classic Motors, in January 1972. Mr. Ken Frank of Buffalo, New York was the first registered owner and took possession of 03064 on April 19th 1974. Previously owned by the editor of Autoweek Magazine, this magnificent 1971 Ferrari Dino 246 GT was recently released from long-term ownership and comes fully documented with its manuals, tools, complete service records from new, factory correspondence letters and Marcel Massini’s comprehensive history report. It is equipped with an AM/FM cassette player, power windows and 14” Cromodora wheels. This Dino recently underwent a complete service and would be the perfect addition to add to any premier collection. We are proud to offer it to the most particular collector, investor or enthusiast who demands the best. Classic cars have proven to be among the most resilient and rewarding investments in recent years with the Historic Automobile Group Index (HAGI) jumping 39% in 2013 and posting gains of 395-percent over the last 10-years. Financing

Finance rates as low as 5.9%.

We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard “used car” rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.

We work closely with many banking institutions that understand recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.

Terms available up to 144 Months

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us, (314)291-7000 or credit@schmitt.com

    * Rates vary depending on year of car, length of term and credit score.
